Pro-Lite Bars measure 1-3/4″ in width and are a genuine 3/4″ deep, while most brand leaders are only 1-5/8″ wide and 5/8″ deep. This 1/8″ difference creates a sturdier frame. Although some stretcher bars do not use consistent types of wood, (some are Pine, some are Poplar, and some could be Bass), Pro-Lite bars are always made of Pine, so you know you are getting consistent quality. The stretcher bars feature the traditional tongue and groove corner ends that you can quickly assemble by interlocking two strips to form a canvas corner. They also feature a uniform beaded edge, so the canvas is slightly offset, to ensure that there will be no “ghost” impressions on the canvas. For re-stretching a painting, the bead is on both sides; therefore, you can turn the frame around and staple into raw wood on the back if you ever need to re-stretch.
