Lascaux Medium for Consolidation

Description

Developed in collaboration with the Swedish National Heritage Institute for the conservation of medieval paint layers on wood, this finely dispersed, aqueous acrylic copolymer dispersion serves as an exceptional binder for consolidating primers and delicate paint layers. Thanks to its incredibly low viscosity, the medium offers excellent penetration, allowing for the rapid and reliable consolidation of all types of loose or pulverizing paint. It is highly versatile and safe to use on wooden and textile supports, as well as on highly water-sensitive surfaces such as burnished gilding or thin layers of distemper. Formulated to be completely lightfast and age-resistant, the dispersion has a minimum film-forming temperature (MFT) of approximately 4°C and a pH of 8 to 9. Once dry, it remains easily soluble in esters, aromatics, acetone, and MEK (methyl ethyl ketone).
