Claessens provides artists with professional quality canvases. Each canvas passes through its own unique manufacturing steps before it is inspected. Quality control carefully examines the canvas by hand for faults and removes any abnormally thick threads. Next, two layers of synthetic adhesive are applied. Each layer is dried on the canvas in a warm-air oven.
Universal acrylic primed canvases are coated twice with an acrylic-based paint that is troweled on expertly by hand with a large knife. Then the canvas is dried in a dry air oven for a second time. This produces a perfectly cured, completely dry canvas. The Universal priming is designed to allow for 50% absorbency, making it suitable for all media types.
The finished canvases are again carefully inspected one last time before they are placed on rolls and stocked in the warehouse. There, the rolls are put into boxes or tubes for shipping. These stringent, painstaking steps create an archival, exceptional linen canvas worthy of your finest masterpiece!
