A highly transparent vivid red with a blue undertone. This is a mixed pigment hue – a recreation of true alizarin crimson pigment, which doesn’t offer the required lightfastness for artists. Alizarin crimson was first used as a dye obtained from the roots of the madder plant by the ancient Egyptians.
